first impressions

pacific northwest
first impressions:
it is hotter than expected
everyone drives my car here
except those who drive a prius
or who bike despite the
100+ (F) heat
people are friendly
and they mean it
at the dog park you will not learn the names of the humans
just the names of the dogs.
there is very good architecture
and terrible architecture.
free wifi is readily available
grass is brown
it really honestly does not rain in july
there are enough asians here
and enough queers here
that we do not have to be nice to each other
just because we are alike.
you can't tell if people are dressed for work
or weekend
the ocean is west.
no really, this is worse than you think.
(I began with ocean east,
proceeded to river east,
and then to lake east.
I know water and west begin with W
but really.)
produce is good.
art is original.
1800's is old.
This is going to take
some adjusting.
